As promised! Legend of Zelda: Ocaraina of Time's Saria's Song and Epona's Lullaby!

As promised, here is a recording of me playing Saria's song immediately followed by Epona's lullaby. I learnt them both by ear today and it took me only about 20 minutes..I know I make a slight mistake but I was getting tired so I felt it was subtle enough to continue the recording :P Please enjoy and feel free to comment! New video coming tomorrow possibly Paganini or Devil went Down to Georgia we'll see....

Plans for the week ahead!

Thanks to everyone who's helped me establish the base of my new blog! This video I have selected above is a clip of me trying to learn a portion of Tchaikovsky's violin concerto. This is after about 2 hours of practice and it is no where near perfect. I was going to do an update video for youtube where I play it more beautifully but I never got around to it... so feel free to comment but know I don't hold the video above to my personal standards :/ The climax of the clip is at the middle-end for those who are impatient :P

Looking ahead!
My new videos for next will come as follows...
1.Saria's song/Epona's melody from LOZ:OOT (learning by ear)
2.Attempt to get Berceuse and Finale- Stravinski
3.Devil went down to Georgia- just because :P
4.An excerpt from Paganini's caprice 24
5.An excerpt from Vitali chaccone?(maybe)

For the following week maybe I will try and learn Air on the G string by Bach (I just need the music)

Thanks again everyone!

Making brand new videos on monday

This is from when I was a senior in high school. It was made about 2 years ago. I look like total shit because it was cold outside and I hadn't showered in like 2 days haha. I felt the urge to work on both my tonality and phrasing by working out this portion of the Danse Bacchanale by Saint Saens. I make a look of disgust as a mess up a shift near the end of the phrase :P

Update: This week I will be making a few short videos to showcase some of the techniques and things I am currently working on. Also, I'll be taking requests! I'm going to try and play the Berceuse and Finale of Stravinski's Firebird Suite this week and on friday I will be checking the poll to the right to make a recording of what ever you guys vote on! Feel free to comment and make suggestions as always. Thank you everyone.

More melody!

Something a little prettier, its an arrangement from a great section of Thcaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet: Overture. This was a few years ago and I was testing not only my ability to quicly recognize and recreate melodies but expand on them as well. I loved making this clip except for the last note, it bothers me haha... feel free to comment guys!

For fun

I was watching It's Always sunny in Philadelphia and the theme song would get stuck in my head and I just had to learn it. I learnt it by ear and made this video to critique how close I could match and blend with their recording.

Update: Anybody have any requests for a video I could possibly make today? Feel free to ask in the comments!

Welcome!

Welcome to my personal violin development journal! I will be updating this page in an effort to monitor not only my own personal progressions on the instrument, but also in an effort to help others learn more about the violin as well. The clip above was created a few years ago while I was still in highschool. I was learning the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto at the time and felt like testing my new digital cameras microphone by playing a portion of the ricochet section of the cadenza...I was very pleased with the quality of the microphone and the quality of my playing was pretty good too! If you have any questions about learning flying spiccatto or ricochet please leave a comment below!
